Delivery of the Drago 29 WB at the Port of Schierstein on April 2, 2015
We met Florian Öchsner at 09.00 on Thursday, April 2, 2015. Then we went to the ramp in the harbor of Schierstein in misty weather and fresh wind. First we built the very functional and well thought out fabric roof, followed by the first landing of the boat, including the ascent into the Rhine. As the new owner I had to drive the boat myself (Mr. Öchsner helped in the comments). So we carefully set off from the harbor towards the Rhine towards Rüdesheim. Waves of around 50-70 cm were waiting for us. Wave height and good (side) wind. But the Drago 29 ran as if it was on rails and slowly dived into the waves.
The driving characteristics impressed me from the first moment.
When I took delivery of the boat, I was a beginner with a boat of this size, but I got along well with the boat from the start. Also, some of my boat mates, whom I didn’t know at the time, gave me a lot of (practical) tips.
Tied to the pier, there was an intensive briefing on the functions of the Drago 29 WB.
Towards late afternoon, Mr. Öchsner returned to Würzburg after a small glass of champagne. We, one of our sons, a friend and I sat around the table in the rear seating group, in the seat behind the driver’s seat, and tried to prepare for the last few hours.
In practice, the Drago 29 is WIDE RAYED:
This was followed by several trips on the Rhine in April. The boat showed its power. The Volvo Penta D3 – 220 HP is an excellent / powerful engine with low consumption.
From May 2 to May 14, 2015 I went on a tour from Wiesbaden to Luxembourg with one of our 6 children. There was a mixture of rainy weather, sunshine, everything was there. First of all, there was high water on the Moselle and on the way back there was high water on both the Moselle and the Rhine. Here the engine showed what it could do.
By the way, Drago has 110 engine hours per hour. Slowly a very nice boat trip is coming to an end. This year we had many stays in other harbors and bays with good conversations / contacts with other boat owners.
The boat’s WIDE-BEAM hull lives up to its purpose if you make practical use of it. I have never seen such a well designed, balanced, well running boat.
By the way my wife who was very skeptical about the boat was very impressed with the Drago 29 WB. For 2016 she is even planning a family vacation.
