The road to SR25 -YACHTLINE-

We came across Öchsner Boote’s SR25 Yachtline in the 10/2018 issue of “Boats” magazine. Until now, we only had a smaller day cruiser of American/Polish production with a small cabin.

We found the spacious cabin with additional underfloor cabin and small “bathroom” combined with a low overall weight of only about 2,500 kg including trailer particularly exciting. So we went to Kürnach to inspect the boat during the autumn holidays. The first impression from the report was more than confirmed on site and we ordered the SR25 in October.

On April 13, 2019 we were finally able to pick up the boat. After an extensive theoretical instruction with many tips by Mr. Küffner from Öchsner-Boats, we then went to Ana to receive a practical instruction on the water with Mr. Öchsner.

Both the employees and the boss of the house took all the necessary time and answered absolutely every question competently and sincerely!

SR25-YACHTINE to Berlin and Potsdam

A week later we drove with a mobile home and SR25 in the direction of Caputh / Potsdam to a nice campsite with its own small marina. The trip there was also uneventful.

A few days followed in the gorgeous Easter weather on the water around Potsdam. The SR25 is great to drive. There is enough space on board for 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a dog. New for us was the “luxury” of a bow thruster which made anchoring extremely easy.

A few days later we started a 3-day tour around Berlin. The Teltow Canal from Caputh via Potsdam is about 40 km from the port of Tempelhof. Unfortunately, you were usually not allowed to go faster than 12 km/h. But once you get used to it, it is quite relaxing. Thanks to the bow thruster, it was easy to master the lock to pass through.

We spent the first two nights on our new boat in Tempelhof harbor.

My wife and I (and the dog) made ourselves comfortable in the cabin, the space is really great. Our teenagers slept wonderfully under the camping canopy over the sun lounger, which they stretched out with the help of cushions from the retractable cabin.

After a day of shopping and sightseeing, relatively early on the second morning we went eastward on the Spree to the Mühlendammschleuse, as we had to cross it without a radio on board until 10:00 a.m. Until then you can see impressive buildings along the river, after the lock you are “in the middle” of Berlin and take your boat through the Reichstag building and the Chancellery. It’s really a completely different perspective from the water.

After the Charlottenburg lock, we continued south on Untere Havelwasserstraße via Unterspree in the direction of Potsdam / Caputh. Here, a short detour along the great Wannsee and the Griebnitz Canal is recommended. Here there are impressive waterfront estates with admirable “smaller” single-family houses.

In between there were occasional questions about the technology on board, which we could not clarify directly with the help of the extensive information material about the boat. Öchsner’s good service was also evident here. Questions by phone or e-mail were answered competently, friendly and helpful.

Back in Caputh, we spent 2 more days on the water with our new SR25 Yachtline and enjoyed it very much.

Conclusion about SR25 -YACHTLINE-

The boat is really well thought out in many details, the workmanship and quality is very high. Of course it’s fun to move the lever! But you should warn the crew in advance, there is a tremendous thrust!

Thanks again to the Öchsner team at this point. We are already looking forward to the summer in Croatia.
